Exercise: Focus with a set aperture
Summary: Using the widest f-stop available, take three shots at different focus points and compare. State in the learning log your preference of the three and explain. Of the three shots in this exercise, my favourite of the three is the middle focus point. Whilst the bokeh is more attractive in the close focus shot, but the sharpness in the image is too close to the viewer so the majority of the image is completely out of focus which is not easy on the eye. The far focus is more pleasing on the eye, and I like the way that your eye is drawn down the image, but the background just off of the table is too much in focus which is distracting to me. This could be better controlled by either repositioning the camera to a lower angle (which as I did not have a tripod available was not possible at this time), or by masking off the background using some cloth. With the middle focus, there is still the sharp band that grabs the eye, but the background is more out of focus, as is the foreground. However displayed on screen, I would prefer a focus point in between that of the middle and far focus points. Close Focus Point
